Family Faucet
This tapstand like all the other homes is in the courtyard of the home. Now the women don’t
need to walk far for water and will always have clean water available.
Tapstand
This tapstand design is built on a flat surface. This owner wanted to have
more space to work when washing clothes, cleaning produce, or butchering
animals.
LaLiJiu Water Tank
The LaLiJiu village area water system is complete and working well. This 3000
gallon storage tank serves 70 homes or about 350 residents.
ABoLuo Area
The ABoLuo village area water system is not yet complete as of Summer 2013.
Back in the winter of 2013 four springs were improved and piped to this single
3000 gallon storage tank. The system will be extended from this tank to 170
households or about 850 residents. This last portion of the system should be
complete by early 2014.
Village Leaders
The village leaders were integral in the implementation of this project. They
helped coordinate all the village residents to help with the labor and
encouraged each household to do their best to ensure a well installed system.
Friends
Throughout the installation process our contracting crew lived with the local
residents and made many new friends.
Village Leaders and Us
The Aboluo village leaders were gracious hosts to our team.
Tapstand Design
Each household was provided with a pile of bricks and some cement and sand
with which they could build their own was basins. These basins serve 2
purposes. One is to protect the water quality by reducing the amount of mud
and standing water around the basin. The other is to protect the tapstand.
Water!
Water in this area of the village had been rare. Now each home has their own
tap.
