ZeYue Elementary School Hygiene Training
Due to relationships built through projects at other schools, we were invited to
Zeyue school to provide hygiene training. Actually, this had been one of our
book mobile schools several years ago, but since that time the school
leadership has changed. We hope to help in other ways in the future.
We were able to train all the students at the school the importance of clean
water and good hygiene. In addition to the hygiene training each student was
provided with a set of hygiene products and some school supplies.
Hygiene is often lacking in these rural areas and one of the most effective
ways to improve overall health is to facilitate better hygiene practices.
Beginning at the elementary grade level is one of the better ways to ensure
lasting change.
Eager Learners
Students found the hygiene training interesting and really go involved in the
process.
All Grades
All grade levels at the school were trained.
Sponsored Student Volunteers
Several of our sponsored college students volunteered to help train the kids.
Having grown up in villages, they believe the information is important and the
kids really love them.
Hygiene Supplies
We provided tooth brushes, toothpaste, wash cloths, and soap to each
boarding student. In the hygiene training they were given instruction on how to
use them and why.
Sponsored Student Volunteers
Again, some of our sponsored college students helped distribute the hygiene
supplies.
Lunch Time
Students eat outdoors to soak up the warmth of the sun. Since classrooms
are not heated, they enjoy warming up outside.
Water Shortage
While at the school the principal explained how they run short of water each
day. We hope to help improve their water system in teh future.
Kitchen Needs
The kitchen is also in need of help. While they have some helpful equipment,
they asked for help with making some necessary modifications.
Cooperation
School leadership and teachers are more than willing to work with us as
together we find ways to improve health and education for the students.
